Learn and experience entrepreneurship

Expand your entrepreneurial know-how, build your network, and learn the ins and outs of start-up financing with programs offered by the International Business & Entrepreneurship Centre (IBEC).

Housed within the Faculty of Management at the University of New Brunswick, IBEC provides students with experiential learning opportunities in entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurship highlights

Venture Capital Program

The Venture Capital Program provides a rigorous academic foundation in investment analysis and startup development for early-stage ventures

Student Venture Fund

The Fraser Student Venture Fund provides students with the opportunity to research and analyze businesses that are in the start-up stage of development and award cash investments to those they consider investment ready.

Up to two start-ups each year are selected to receive investments of up to $25,000 each from the fund, positioning them for further development.

Apex Startup Challenge

The Apex Startup Challenge is the largest business plan competition of it's kind in Atlantic Canada, involving teams of students from universities across Canada. If you're an aspiring entrepreneur, this competition offers you the chance to compete in both undergraduate and graduate level competitions and to meet student entrepreneurs from across Canada.

Data Challenge

IBEC hosts the UNB Data Challenge, which is composed of 2 competitive events: Data Visualization and Data Analytics. Participants demonstrate the power of data storytelling, connect with leaders in academia, government and industry, and compete for cash prizes. 

Speaker Series

The Speaker Series introduces entrepreneurs and business innovators to students through on-campus and online speaking events. Through this series, you will learn about the challenges they faced at different stages of their careers and how they dealt with them.

MBA Concentration in Venture Commercialization, Scaling, and Investment

Second-year MBA students can experience the world of entrepreneurship from a variety of perspectives by earning the MBA Concentration in Venture Commercialization, Scaling, and Investment.
