Dr. Alderson is a Professor in the department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of New Brunswick Saint John.

He has a Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics from the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada (2002).

His research interests are in finite geometries and their applications to coding and information theory.

Since 2002 his research has been funded through the NSERC of Canada. Dr. Alderson is a dedicated teacher, and has received several teaching awards. He is an Associate Fellow of the Institute for Combinatorics and its Applications and sits on the board of directors for the Canadian Mathematical Society (Atlantic Director 2012-2015). He also serves on the editorial board of the journal Contributions to Discrete Mathematics.
