Joseph DeCoste is an Assistant Professor of Finance and the Director of the Centre for Financial Studies at the University of New Brunswick. Joseph holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Alberta and is a CFA Charterholder.

His empirical research examines how financial market development, investor behaviour, indexing, and financialization affect asset pricing, market dynamics, and the real economy. Joseph’s current research focuses on the financialization and indexing of assets, with applications to commodity markets, equity market comovement, and asset pricing anomalies.

He teaches Financial Data Analysis, International Financial Management, Financial Institutions and Markets, and Derivatives in UNB’s graduate and undergraduate programs. Since 2023, Joseph has directed UNB’s $22 million+ Student Investment Fund, overseeing student-managed portfolios and experiential learning in
