Joseph DeCoste is an Assistant Professor of Finance and the Director of the Centre for Financial Studies at the University of New Brunswick. Joseph holds a Ph.D in Finance from the University of Alberta and is also a CFA Charterholder. He conducts empirical research which explores how the development of markets and behavior of investors effects the pricing and dynamics of financial assets and can spill over into the real economy.

His current research investigates the effects that the financialization and indexing of assets has on financial markets and the real economy. Joseph teaches Financial Data Analysis, International Financial Management, and Financial Institutions and Markets within UNB’s graduate and undergraduate programs. Since 2023, Joseph has directed UNB’s $15 million+ Student Investment Fund, overseeing student-managed portfolios and experiential learning in asset management.
