Daniel Coleman joined the Faculty of Management in 1986 and was a member of the Business Administration Area until his retirement in 2020. In 2022 he was appointed Professor Emeritus during the May Encaenia Ceremony.

He taught Organizational Behavior, Work Motivation, Leadership and Applied Integrated Studies.. In 1996 he received the Faculty's Excellence in Teaching Award and the UNBF MBA Society's Professor Recognition Award in 2004 and 2011.

He has authored or co-authored nearly 70 books, book chapters, cases, conference proceedings, papers at professional conferences, and high-quality journal articles, as well as receiving four Best Paper Awards.

Dr. Coleman has an extensive record of service with the Faculty and the University. He served as Assistant Dean (Undergraduate Programs) from 1989-1992, as Associate Dean from 1992-1995, as Dean from 1999-2011, and as Assistant Vice-President (Fredericton) from 2012-2018. He is a member of the board of directors for the Fredericton Direct Charge Co-op. He has previously served on a number of boards, including the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce (8 years), The River Valley (Region 3) Health Authority (3 years), the UNB Board of Governors (3 years), and the District 18 Parents’ Advisory Committee (5 years, 4 as chair).He also has been an invited speaker or educator for organizations in the public and private sectors, including the Canadian Society for Medical and Laboratory Sciences, the Institute of Public Administration in Canada, the New Brunswick Department of Health and Community Services, and the New Brunswick Financial Management Institute.

He received his BA in Psychology and PhD in Management (major in Organization Studies, minors in Economics and Applied Statistics) from the University at Buffalo-State University of New York.
