To mark the hundredth anniversary of the death of author, activist and traveller Margaret Harkness, please join us for an online seminar that will feature presentations by scholars who are conducting new research on this complex historic figure. This event will feature a keynote lecture from Dr. Sucheta Bhattacharya that will address little-known travel writing from Harkness’s time in India. This will be followed by a research panel that will showcase exciting new work on Harkness by three graduate students: Hannah Rigg (Oxford), Jess Samuel, (De Montfort) and Garth Wenman-James (Surrey). Both the keynote presentation and the research panel will be followed by opportunities for questions and discussion.

This event is hosted by the Literary London Society and will take place on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 12 p.m. (GMT). Attendance is free, but please do register your interest at literary.londonrg@gmail.com. When you do so, you will be emailed a passcode for the event.
