The Monday Night Film Series presents MONTANA STORY.

In Montana Story, Owen Teague (It, Black Mirror) plays Cal Thorne, a young man drawn back to the family ranch to be with his ailing father, Wade. A migrant nurse, Ace (Gilbert Owuor), has been hired to care for the old man, and longtime employee Valentina (Kimberly Guerrero) tries to help manage the sprawling property. But Wade has dug his family deep into debt with the bank, and Cal is ill-prepared to take the reins. His answer as to what to do with their horses infuriates his sister Erin (Haley Lu Richardson; Columbus, Five Feet Apart) when she arrives.

The stage is set for an eternal conflict that pushes Cal and Erin to see each other truly. Both she and Cal carry wounds from childhood that drove them from home. With their father dying, they have no choice but to confront together what home now means to them. In its World Premiere at TIFF 2021, Montana Story was selected as part of the Platform programme.

“Thanks to the specificity of Richardson’s performance in particular and Giles Nuttgen’s gorgeous cinematography (the movie is shot on 35 mm), Montana Story evokes a grandiose style of American frontier filmmaking…See it on the largest screen you can find.” - Chandler Levack, The Globe & Mail

This term, 14 limited release, independent foreign and Canadian films will be shown. Admission is $10/film, but a yearly $18 student film society membership reduces admission cost to $7/film. The series is open to all. Memberships are available at Tilley 102 every Monday night.
