Event Details:

Commencement and graduation are ceremonies steeped in rituals and traditions that act as “bookends” to the academic experience of UNB students.

In Fredericton, the event will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 9 a.m. at The Richard J. CURRIE CENTER. Staff, faculty and current students are invited to cheer on the new students while they walk from Mackay Promenade on the north side of the Students’ Union Building (SUB) to The Richard J. CURRIE CENTER, fourth floor Performance Gym at 9:10 a.m. (rain location for procession is from the Long Hall to the Performance Gym).

Faculty members are encouraged to wear academic dress for this event and gather at 8:50 a.m. at the Mackay Drive side of the Mackay Promenade (the grassy area below the Student Union Building).  For those faculty members wishing to borrow UNB gowns and hoods, a limited number will be available in the Long Hall of the CURRIE Centre beginning at 8:30 a.m. Gowns are to be returned immediately following the ceremony.

Commencement will begin with a procession of students to the event venue and will include messages from our President, Vice-President Academic, Vice-President Saint John and Kcicihtuwinut, Knowledge Carrier-in-Residence or Elders as well as a welcome from our student representatives.

Let’s show our new students the great support they can expect and how excited we are to welcome them to the UNB family.
