Betty Blanchard, owner of My Closet Consignment & My Home Consignment, will talk about her journey as an entrepreneur with the Faculty of Management Online.

In September 2017, Betty decided after her long career in Hospitality Sales and Marketing to leave that industry and open My Closet Consignment.  In May 2020, after a COVID delay, her second store, My Home Consignment finally opened.  My Closet received a Fredericton Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award in 2019 in the Start Up category.  In 2018, she was recognized as one of Canada’s 50 Over 50 Entrepreneurs. 

Betty believes in being involved in the Fredericton Community and currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, she also plays a major role in the Sara Burns Forever Fund committee and until recently was a Board of Director for Business Fredericton North.  

Betty and her Business Partner husband Rob are planning their next expansion and hope to open new stores in New Brunswick by 2022. They have two adult children, Dara and Noah, that both live in Ottawa.

The Speaker Series Online is coordinated by the International Business and Entrepreneurship Centre, which is housed within the Faculty of Management at UNB Fredericton. IBEC supports programs in entrepreneurship and international business to help students build their professional networks and develop entrepreneurial skills. Key to its operations is a powerful and ever-growing network of innovators, entrepreneurs, and business/community leaders who work with our faculty and students, share their wisdom and advice, and provide experiential learning opportunities.
