Event Details:

'Couch, Coffee & Convos: Black Women Taking Up' will take the form of an informal panel discussion consisting of an all-black female panel.

The event is focused on acknowledging and shedding light on the unique experiences that black women encounter and face in today’s society, as a result of the intersectional nature of their identities. The topic for discussion is "Building the Black Female Community: Intergenerational Dialogues with Black Women and Girls."

It will primarily focus on the 'spaces' or 'positions' that various Black women have within the community and the extent to which these positions of power may be used as a means of empowering other Black women to venture into areas that tend to be occupied by white men and/or women.

Additionally, the discussion will touch on the importance of intergenerational dialogue between Black women and girls, in forming effective social relationships, networks or connections, and community ties in order to have more Black women 'taking up space' in various industries and arenas and making an impact on campus and in our communities.
