Monday Night Film Series presents, The Irishman-FR
Event Details:
The Monday Night Film Series presents The Irishman.
We are excited to be one of the select theatres across Canada chosen to screen Martin Scorsese’s epic new film The Irishman. As Cineplex was unable to reach an agreement with Netflix to show the film, it is only available through independent theatres such as our own on the big screen. The film has been designated a frontrunner in the 2020 Oscar race and has been called the movie event of the year.
Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci star in Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, an epic saga of organized crime in postwar America told through the eyes of World War II veteran Frank Sheeran (De Niro), a hitman who worked alongside some of the most notorious underworld figures of the 20th century. Spanning decades, the film chronicles the disappearance of legendary union boss Jimmy Hoffa — which remains unsolved to this day — and journeys through the hidden corridors of organized crime: its inner workings, rivalries, and connections to mainstream politics. 96% score Rotten Tomatoes.
"Prepare for fireworks. With this unmissable crime epic, you'll be watching Scorsese at the peak of his powers directing acting giants De Niro, Pacino and Pesci and creating the movie event of the year." - Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
This term, 16 limited release, independent foreign and Canadian films will be shown. Admission is $8/film, but a half-yearly $12 student film society membership reduces admission cost to $5/film. The series is open to all. Memberships are available at Tilley 102 every Monday night.
