Call for poster session presenters

UNB APAC is back in-person and so is our poster session. Posters can be research-based or advocacy-based. Posters should align with the conference mission and theme. We would specifically like to welcome and prioritize poster presentations by Autistic individuals. We continue to welcome poster submissions from previous speakers and as well as those who are new to the conference.

Mission: The mission of the UNB Atlantic Provinces Autism Conference (UNB APAC) is to disseminate research and empirically supported practices in the assessment, treatment, and support of individuals on the autism spectrum amongst families, practitioners, researchers, and governmental agencies. The mission aims to enrich the quality of life of those on the autism spectrum and their families in the Atlantic Provinces.

Theme: Autistic Wellness

We will accept posters from the following categories:

  • Research: Posters in this category share project or research results.
  • Advocacy: Posters in this category share personal life stories; lived experiences; suggestions for the improvement of support or quality of life of those on the autism spectrum; or resources that are available.

Posters should be 4’ x 3’ maximum. A presenting author is required for every poster submission. All submissions must include a title and abstract that meet the following requirements:

All titles and abstracts must use the American Psychological Association style guidelines:

  • Titles must be no more than 15 words
  • Abstracts must be no more than 200 words
  • Ending punctuation and quotation marks around the title are not necessary
  • Abstracts should begin with a sentence stating why the topic is important and end with the general conclusion, relevance, or potential impact
  • All acronyms must be spelled out at first mention

Abstracts for data-based presentations must also include:

  • An overview of the types of participants involved in the research
  • An overview of the types of procedures used in the work
  • A statement of what the data showed
