Open entry online courses

Open entry online courses are open year round to UNB / STU undergraduate and graduate students, adult learners, students studying at other post-secondary institutions, and prospective students.

Enrolling in open entry courses

Full-time UNB /STU students must register by Oct. 1 for Fall Term and Feb. 1 for Winter Term.

How to apply

  1. For each course you want to apply to, click on the course from the Open Entry online course list.
  2. Once you are on the course webpage, scroll to the bottom and click "Apply Now".
  3. Fill out and submit the application form.
  4. Once submitted, you will receive an email confirmation from extend@unb.ca.

NOTE: You cannot self-register for open entry online courses through Student Planning & Registration.

Course approval

Advisor approval must be obtained by UNB full-time undergraduate students, all graduate students, and all Saint John students:

Once registration is complete, you will have six months to complete the course. However, you can progress at your own pace and complete it sooner.

NOTE: Government student loan programs (Canadian and US) require courses be completed within a traditional term timeframe. This means, if you are a government student loan recipient, you must complete any open entry courses within the term in which you register. Therefore, you will not have the standard six months to complete open entry online courses (fall term completion date is December 31, winter term completion date is April 30, summer term completion date is August 31).

There is a $150 non-refundable/non-transferable online fee per course in addition to applicable tuition & fees. Learn more about tuition and fees and methods of payment.
