The course covers topics in open economy macroeconomics to help students to become critical reader of popular and ongoing debates about the global economy. Topics include international capital flows; exchange rate regimes; theories of speculative attacks and currency crises; causes and consequences of financial crises; predictions of financial crises; stabilization and adjustment; debt crises; international monetary integration; and scope and functions of international monetary agencies.

Prerequisites: ECON 3013 and ECON 3023 or equivalent courses.
