This course develops the mathematical tools essential for modern economic analysis. Topics include equilibrium theory and market failures, optimization, comparative statics and sensitivity analysis, dynamic models, elements of financial analysis with applications to microeconomics and macroeconomics, elements of game theory. Students gain skills in formal modeling, proof-based reasoning, and applying advanced mathematics to economic research. Background in linear algebra as well as in calculus is a must.
