This course surveys emerging mixed-reality technology, provides instruction on enabling and emerging technology development and surveys recent and seminal research in mixed-reality from a Human-Computer Interaction perspective. The course will explore the 30-plus-year history of academic research and commercial uses of mixed reality. Focus will be placed on both Virtual and Augmented Reality technologies, their applications to real-world problems, and implementation challenges and concerns. Students taking this course should have undergraduate degree in CS or comparable experience, strong programming skills and knowledge of software engineering and design patterns.
