Program format

MSE.BME

  • One required course on the foundations of biomedical engineering.
  • Up to three elective courses that will add to your research and thesis.
  • A thesis proposal that can be defended.

  • A thesis and defense.

PhD.BME

  • One required course, if not already completed, on the foundations of biomedical engineering.
  • Up to three elective courses that will add to your research and dissertation.
  • A dissertation proposal that can be defended.
  • Research.
  • A dissertation and defense.

Since these degrees are research based, you will need to find a supervisor who will collaborate with you. Together you will create a program that supports your research while challenging you to grow in your skills in biomedical engineering.

Admission requirements

MSE.BME

  • An undergraduate degree in engineering, computer science, or kinesiology.
  • Students with a closely related background from other degrees may be admitted in rare circumstances and upon review.
  • CGPA of 80% or First Class standing.
  • Submission of three references and a one page statement of their research interests.

PHD.BME

  • A graduate degree in engineering, computer science, or kinesiology.
  • Students with a closely related background from other degrees may be admitted in rare circumstances and upon review.
  • A CGPA of 80% or First Class standing.
