Online Open Entry Courses are offered in each academic term and are available to undergraduate and graduate students, adult learners, students studying at other post-secondary institutions, and prospective students.

These courses are offered online in an asynchronous format which allows you to study at your own pace. You have 6 months from the term start date to complete your course.

There is a $150 non-refundable/non-transferable online fee per course in addition to applicable tuition and fees. Learn more about online course tuition and fees and methods of payment.

  • Current UNB students will use the UNB Student Planning and Registration system.

  • New to UNB students must first submit an application for admission to UNB. Once you have received notification of acceptance to UNB, you will be provided information on how to claim your account and next steps.

    • Visiting Student Program: Students who are taking an online course(s) that will be applied towards a program at another institution, should apply to the Visiting Student program.
    • No Degree Program: Students who are taking an online course(s) for future programs, out of interest or professional development but are not applying to a degree/certificate/diploma program, should apply for the No Degree program.

Students must register for:

  • Fall 2025 courses on or before Sept. 12, 2025.
  • Winter 2026 courses on or before Jan. 16, 2026.

Course registration process

Registration support is available on the Registrar's Office internal site.

For current students, you should consult with your Academic Advisor to confirm the Online Open Entry Course(s) you have chosen are acceptable toward fulfilling your degree requirements.

If so, you must complete your Online Open Entry Course work no later than the last day of the examination schedule for the term in which you are enrolled.

If so, you should speak with your Academic Advisor as most programs require all course work to be completed at the end of the examination period in the academic term preceding the work term.

Find your Undergraduate Academic Advisor for the Fredericton campus or the Saint John campus.

Online open entry courses follow the Undergraduate Calendar of Academic Dates for registration deadlines, last date to add/drop courses, last date to withdraw without academic penalty, and last date to withdraw with academic penalty.

Government student loan programs (Canadian and US) require courses be completed within the traditional academic term. Learn more about taking online courses when you have a student loan.
