This course explores the design and implementation of behaviour change procedures and supervision frameworks that optimize staff performance, client care, and organizational success while promoting positive workplace culture. Students will develop skills in organizational assessments, competency-based personnel assessment and training, behaviour-based safety protocols, behavioural systems analysis, supervision techniques, and other interventions used in organizations, with a specific emphasis on behavioural health organizations.

What you will learn

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the behaviour-analytic approach to staff management.
  • Define behaviours within organizational settings to be targeted for improvement.
  • Identify components of competency-based training.
  • Recognize effective staff performance monitoring systems.
  • Explain staff performance management systems based on antecedent and consequence manipulations.
  • Describe internal systems that support the provision of behaviour analysis services.
  • Explain strategies for securing the support of others in identifying, implementing, and maintaining an array of supports and services that sustain behavioural repertoires in natural settings.
  • Identify strategies to reduce burnout, turnover, and stress in organizational settings.
  • Recognize leadership and supervisory behaviours that lead to improved performance.

Students have six months from the registration date to complete the course. All course exams and/or assignments must be completed by the designated end date.

Assignments and examinations

  • Active Responding Questions embedded in all lectures (10% total)
  • 2 x applied assignments (10% total)
  • 4 x tests (20% total)
  • 1 x mid-course exam (invigilated, 30%)
  • 1 x final exam (invigilated, 30%)

The exams for this course will be invigilated on an approved date using Respondus e-proctoring software (LockDown Browser and Monitor). This is a free tool provided with this course; a webcam is required. More information will be given once you have been registered.

Fees and payments

There is a $150 non-refundable/non-transferable online fee per course in addition to applicable tuition and fees. This fee is non-refundable once the add/drop date has passed within the term the course is registered in. Please note this fee will be automatically added and included in your term tuition fees.
