Dr. Vanda Rideout is the primary investigator and project lead on the DWRS. Her digital economy research focuses on the digital skills, education, training , experience and occupations of high-tech workers in New Brunswick.
Dr. Mary C. Milliken, is a freelance researcher and has been project co-ordinator and a research associate on the DWRS since 2013. She has had a pleasant and long association working with Vanda, who was also her graduate supervisor through both Masters and Doctoral degrees, during which she examined the relationship between communications policy, technology, and public service broadcasting. In the DWRS, she's really interested in the role of "place" in the decision of people who work in the ICT sector to either stay in New Brunswick, or leave.
Alekhya “Baba” Das is a doctoral candidate (‘ABD’) in Sociology at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. Das’s research is on the connection between spousal relationships and women’s health-seeking behavior. Das has conducted ethnographic research in a slum community of New Delhii, India to explore access and barriers to medical care institutions, and the impact of culture, beliefs and practices on the health status of women in marginalised communities. Das has served as a researcher for the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission (NB, Canada), and is also a session instructor for the Department of Anthropology. He has taught courses on gender and health, South Asia, international healthcare and international development. With the large sample size of respondents in the DWRS, Baba is interested in examining labour-related issues, especially on the subject of alienation / disconnection, among members of the IT workforce.
