BA Program Requirements

To earn a BA degree you must complete both the programme requirements of the Major or Honours you have chosen, and the Arts general BA requirements.

The Programme requirements for each different Major or Honours programme are set out in the University Calendar , and you can check with the faculty adviser in your department or programme in order to be sure that you have completed all of the required courses.

The Arts General BA Requirements are as follows:

  1. A minimum of 120 ch (of which at least 51 must be at the advance level (3xxx or above);
  2. A cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 (C);
  3. The Level 1 & 2 requirements as shown below.   

Level 1 and 2 Requirements

 

Year 1 - 30 ch

I. Arts 1000

II Choose 6 ch in one discipline from three of the four
    categories, total 18 ch:

Year 2 - 30 ch

I. Choose 6 ch each from three different
   disciplines including WS, LW-SO, IDS,
   MUS, DRAMA and FILM, total 18 ch:

II. Choose 3 or 6 ch in a 4th discipline

III. Choose 6 or 9 ch from A, B, C, D
      and/or WS, LW-SO, IDS, MUS, DRAMA

NO MORE THAN 12 CH IN ANY SINGLE
DISCIPLINE IN YEAR 2

Note: Students may take for credit up to 12
         ch (total) courses in other faculties.
         But such courses must be approved
