Legacy initiatives

NB-IRDT has a proud history of research, training and public-sector collaboration. While some of our earlier programs are no longer active, their impact continues.

A research support unit | 2019–2025

MEKTU was created under NB-IRDT to support the Healthy Seniors Pilot Project (HSPP)—a $75 million federal-provincial initiative focused on improving the lives of seniors in New Brunswick. MEKTU contributed to this effort by evaluating the quality and effectiveness of programs and helping move research into practice.

Final reports and related resources are hosted by the Government of New Brunswick.

Undergraduate experiential learning program | 2020–2024

NB-IRDT developed Pathways to Professions to provide university students with hands-on research experience, mentorship and applied training. The program focused on research, knowledge translation and communication, helping bridge the education-to-employment gap in New Brunswick.

The program is no longer run by NB-IRDT and has been adopted by the Government of New Brunswick under the Future GNB / Avenir GNB initiative.

Topics explored include population change, equity and inclusion, labour market trends and healthcare.
