This course aims at understanding the processes involved in social interaction and construction of reality. It uses symbolic interactionism as a sociological framework for the study of human culture. The topics include socialization and its role in shaping the self; stereotyping and stigma and their roles in reproducing social injustices; and collective behaviour and social movements.
