This course deals with the economics of structural change and Canada's multifaceted experience in this area. It blends economic theory, economic analysis, economic history and public policy in the context of the revolution in information technology. The contemporary features of the Canadian economy will be analyzed within the parameters of the new global economy of the 21st century.
The following topics will be discussed: the emergence of knowledge-based industries, entrepreneurship, innovation, the demographic and skill composition of Canada's workforce, the economics of structural and technological change, and the role of the private and public sectors in the Information Age.
This course will contribute to individualized education and provide an opportunity for life-long learning. The mission of the course is to promote an environment that empowers students with specialized knowledge and skills and allows them to engage in a dialogue and intellectual debate. It will also provide a platform for the exchange of ideas, exploring new ideas, and contributing to advancing the frontiers of knowledge.

Prerequisite: Any first-year economics course or permission of the instructor.
Students have six months from the registration date to complete the course. All course exams and/or assignments must be completed by the designated end date.
