Economics ECON 3023 Three (3) credit hours

This course seeks to understand the way in which national economies function, and the way they interact with each other at the international level. Key questions are: the determination of a country's standard of living and rate of growth; the causes of recessions, unemployment, and inflation; and the determinants of exchange rates and interest rates. This course is an essential building block for higher level study in economics and finance, and is indispensable for understanding stock markets and financial investment.

Prerequisite: ECON 1023 Introductory Macroeconomics or equivalent

What you will learn

This course is designed to help you:

  • Understand public policy (fiscal policy and monetary policy).
  • Predict the future course of key economic variables.
  • Hone your analytical skills.

Students have six months from the registration date to complete the course. All course exams and/or assignments must be completed by the designated end date.

Assignments and examinations

  • 13 x module quizzes (26% total)
  • 1 x mid-course test (26%)
  • 1 x final exam (invigilated, 48%)

The exam(s) for this course will be invigilated on an approved date using Respondus e-proctoring software (LockDown Browser and Monitor). This is a free tool provided with this course, a webcam is required. More information will be given once you have been registered.

Fees and payments

There is a $150 non-refundable/non-transferable online fee per course in addition to applicable tuition and fees. This fee is non-refundable once the add/drop date has passed within the term the course is registered in. Please note this fee will be automatically added and included in your term tuition fees.
