Economics ECON 1073 Three (3) credit hours

This course is aimed at students who normally major in disciplines outside arts, but who want to acquire knowledge of the economic way of thinking and economic concepts to understand events occurring around us. It includes both parts of economic theory, microeconomics and macroeconomics, presented in a flexible, fast going way. The course will be especially useful for students who possess analytical skills since economic concepts are seen through simple economic modelling.

Open to engineering and computer science students. Students who take this course may not take any other first year economics course for credit.

What you will learn

This course is designed to help you:

  • Understand markets from microeconomic and macroeconomic standpoints.
  • Evaluate behaviour of producers and consumers of various goods and services.
  • Analyze behaviour of economy as a macroeconomic system.
  • Learn public policy tools associated with microeconomic as well as macroeconomic issues.

Students have six months from the registration date to complete the course. All course exams and/or assignments must be completed by the designated end date.

  • Test #1 (10%)
  • Test #2 (10%)
  • Test #3 (10%)
  • Test #4 (10%)
  • 1 x final exam (invigilated, 60%)

The exam(s) for this course will be invigilated on an approved date using Respondus e-proctoring software (LockDown Browser and Monitor). This is a free tool provided with this course, a webcam is required. More information will be given once you have been registered.

Fees and payments

There is a $150 non-refundable/non-transferable online fee per course in addition to applicable tuition and fees. This fee is non-refundable once the add/drop date has passed within the term the course is registered in. Please note this fee will be automatically added and included in your term tuition fees.
