Introduction to Biology on a Small Scale

Subject Course No. Credit Value
Biology BIOL 1629 Three (3) credit hours

This course introduces students to biological concepts that apply to everyday life. Topics are chosen to help students understand the molecular interactions that are essential for life, the cellular processes that are required for survival and reproduction, and the importance of these to human health, industry and the environment. Recent news articles from main-stream media as well as cutting-edge research findings are incorporated throughout the course for interest and to demonstrate relevance.

As an asynchronous course, lectures are fully recorded and the course is flexible – students can decide when it is most convenient to write quizzes, whether to submit either of the bonus assignments and when to move on to the next topic in the course.

Note: This course is not open to students who have already received credit for BIOL 1001 or BIOL 1009.
