Great Discoveries in World Archaeology

Anthropology ANTH 2304 Three (3) credit hours

This course introduces students to the archaeological history of the world using case studies from major archaeological discoveries such as the pyramids, the origins of writing, and Cahokia. The great discoveries we consider introduce students to few central developments in the long history of humans and to how archaeologists study the past.

What you will learn

This course is designed to help you:

  • Learn about important archaeological discoveries from around the world.
  • Explore the origins of some technologies and aspects of life, such as writing and agriculture, which have had profound effects on the world.
  • Understand how archaeologists study the past.

Students have six months from the registration date to complete the course. All course exams and/or assignments must be completed by the designated end date.

Assignments and examinations

  • Quizzes, after each module (15% total)
  • 1 x midterm exam (non-invigilated, 25%)
  • 1 x summary of another great discovery in archaeology (35%)
  • 1 x final exam, non-cumulative (non-invigilated, 25%)

Fees and payments

There is a $150 non-refundable/non-transferable online fee per course in addition to applicable tuition and fees. This fee is non-refundable once the add/drop date has passed within the term the course is registered in. Please note this fee will be automatically added and included in your term tuition fees.
