Accounting is considered the language of business and the financial information it identifies, records and communicates is key to decision-making for various interested users. A working knowledge of accounting provided by this course will be relevant and useful, whatever your role - as a student pursuing an accounting designation; a business owner; an employee or manager working for a company; an investor in a business; or simply understanding your own personal finances.

What you will learn

This course is designed to help you:

  • Identify and apply the concepts, conventions, and generally accepted accounting principles which underlie financial accounting and reporting.
  • Understand and apply the accounting cycle to measure, record, and report accounting transactions and to prepare financial statements.
  • Analyze and use financial and additional information from a variety of sources to evaluate the financial position and performance of a company and to make decisions.
  • Understand and appreciate the accounting information system and its ability to communicate business activity and results, including its inherent limitations.

Students have six months from the registration date to complete the course. All course exams and/or assignments must be completed by the designated end date.

Assignments and examinations

  • 12 x assignments (25% total)
  • 1 x mid-course test (25%)
  • 1 x final test (50%)

Fees and payments

There is a $150 non-refundable/non-transferable online fee per course in addition to applicable tuition and fees. This fee is non-refundable once the add/drop date has passed within the term the course is registered in. Please note this fee will be automatically added and included in your term tuition fees.
