Updates as of: April 13, 2026
Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students of the Fredericton and Saint John Campuses,
The Joint Nominating Committee for the Office of President would like to thank members of the UNB community for their continued engagement and valuable input in the search for our next President.
Through the consultation process, feedback was gathered through five town halls, surveys, many small-group discussions, and one-on-one meetings with members of the UNB community and external partners. More than 75 individuals participated in meetings, and 142 online survey responses were received, helping to inform the profile of UNB’s next President and Vice-Chancellor.
Based on this input, the Committee has prepared a Position Profile to guide its work in the recruitment and assessment of candidates. See search updates and a copy of the Profile.
Our search consultants, Boyden Executive Search, have begun identifying potential candidates, and the position announcement is being promoted through a range of outlets, including Senior Women Academic Administrators, University Affairs, the CAUT Bulletin, Academica, and Times Higher Education, as well as several national and international websites and social media platforms. View the announcement.
I encourage you to share the announcement with anyone you feel may be interested. All nominations, applications, and suggestions will be treated in strict confidence and should be directed to Michelle Richard and Collin Ritch at mrichard@boyden.com and critch@boyden.com.
Should you have questions or feedback you wish to share with the Committee, please contact the UNB Secretariat at: secretariat@unb.ca.
Thank you for your advice and engagement as the Joint Nominating Committee continues its work with this important process.
Sincerely,
H. Wade MacLauchlan,
Chancellor, University of New Brunswick
Chair, Joint Nominating Committee
The Joint Nominating Committee for the Office of the President has begun the process of gathering input to support its search for the next President of the University of New Brunswick. As part of this process, the Committee has scheduled several opportunities for consultation. In addition to meeting with many members of the university community, the Committee has prepared two surveys, including one intended for use by our students. Links are provided below. The Committee also will be hosting Town Hall sessions on both campuses and one in virtual format.
Committee members are seeking your views on the opportunities, challenges and critical issues the next President will encounter, the priorities that should guide their leadership, and the experience and competencies that will contribute to their success.
Thank you for taking time to share your input with the Committee.
