International Business program
The University of New Brunswick Saint John's International Business program
helps students make the leap from textbook case studies to first-hand,
international business management experience in India , China, France or North America.
International Business graduates not only acquire an appreciation of the challenges and opportunities facing global enterprises; along the way, they build an invaluable network of colleagues and contacts spread out across the world.
While many companies conduct business throughout the world, the majority are concentrated on the continents of North America, Europe and Asia - in particular China and India. UNB Saint John partners with established global organizations to make the International Business program, available in either the one-year or the part-time program, one of the richest MBA experiences anywhere.
Seize a world of opportunity
The study
abroad program,
an integral part of the International Business MBA curriculum adds enormous
value by providing insight into distant markets.
By sharing accommodations, working and studying with North American, Chinese, Indian or French consumers and business managers, our students get the diverse perspective and hands-on education they need to compete globally.
Students in this stream can elect to take European studies in France, or Asian studies in China or India, while the North American stream of study is taught at UNB Saint John. The study abroad portion takes place during the final fall term, from September to December. As a result, this program will be 15 months in length, rather than 12.

MBA 7061 - Cross-Cultural Communication and Negotiation
Designed to develop a learning environment where class members can reflect on and develop their effectiveness at cross-cultural communication and negotiations. Students should develop an understanding of their current style, a clear vision of their desired style, and a specific plan to move the current to desired state.
A goal is to understand and to develop approaches to minimize cross-cultural "incidents", as well as deal effectively with them when they occur. Opportunities are provided to practice applying the concepts and theories that are presented in the course. It is intended to be fun and immediately useful in everyday life, while simultaneously building a systematic framework for dealing with cross-cultural communication and negotiation. Given the goals of this course, lecturing will be kept to a minimum.
Approaches to learning will include extensive reading and discussion, guest speakers, experiential exercise, writing, some lecturing, student-lead discussion and self-reflection. As students undertake self-analysis in order to understand their current style of negotiation and communication, they will also think about the style and approaches that they would like to use in order to develop a more effective approach to communication and negotiation.
MBA 7427 - International Financial Management
In an increasingly integrated world economic system, all the major economic functions, i.e., production, consumption and investment, are taking on an increasingly transnational character.
Reflecting this, the financial marketplace is also becoming increasingly globalized. This trend is being facilitated by policies of increasing economic liberalization and deregulation, which governments all over the world are pursuing. Rapid advancement in communication and information technology has accelerated this process.
In this global economic stage, an informed understanding of today's corporate financial decision-making requires some background in international finance. It is essential for those who work for a Multinational Corporation to understand the international dimensions of financial management. This course is intended to introduce you to some of the key concepts in international finance and their applications to real world managerial decisions. In this context, one can look at this course as a logical extension of the traditional corporate finance course.
