What is CFS?

SIF students speak with a representative from Russell Investments at the futures Atlantic Symposium.Housed within UNB Fredericton's Faculty of Business Administration the Centre for Financial Studies is responsible for delivering the award winning Student Investment Fund (SIF) program.

The SIF program is recognized as one of the finest investment management educational experiences in Canada.  Students apply what they learn by investing real money in the capital markets, in real-time and generating real performance.

As a student in this program you will benefit from a learning experience that takes you outside the classroom. Within the financial laboratory of the TMX Group Boardroom you will meet and listen to industry practitioners on a regular basis, and travel to meet with investment industry leaders in their workplaces. From site visits to the RBC trading floor to participation in a variety of international investment competitions, the Student Investment Fund program bridges the gap between the classroom and the world of work in high finance. Now that's real-world experience!

In addition, the CFS creates academic and business partnerships for students and faculty. The futures Atlantic Symposium is one of the most energetic collaborative initiatives to emerge from the Centre. It combines a recruitment opportunity by national financial firms for graduates of universities in Atlantic Canada, with a robust conference agenda offered at UNB Fredericton over a two-day period in September each year.
