This seminar addresses the structure of Canadian unions, principals related to collective bargaining, steps in negotiating a union contract and techniques in dispute resolution.
You will also discuss how unions affect the human resources management environment and ways to improve union-management relations. The seminar will summarize the safety and health responsibilities of employers and employees.

Jake Calder is a labour and employment lawyer with management-side, union-side, and regulatory experience.
Jake is currently the Manager of Policy in the Securities Division of the Financial and Consumer Services Commission of New Brunswick. Previously, Jake has held the following positions: Lawyer-Negotiator at Finance and Treasury Board, Labour Relations Specialist at UNB, and Associate Lawyer at Lawson Creamer.
Jake has been responsible for a variety of employee and labour relations activities, including acting as chief spokesperson on behalf of both the Government of New Brunswick and UNB in collective agreement negotiations, collective agreement interpretations and enforcement, as well as managing issues in the workplace.
Jake holds a J.D. and a B.B.A. from UNB and has been a practicing member of the Law Society of New Brunswick since 2019.
