In additional to having small class sizes and personable Instructors, UNB Saint John has taken extra steps to ensure you have the tools to succeed in university math and science.
The Flora Beckett Math and Science Help Centre provides additional help to students encountering problems in their mathematics and intro science classes. The Help Centre comprises a team of qualified tutors coordinated by a faculty member from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Services provided through the Help Centre are free to all full and part-time UNB students.
Drop-in tutoring help is available and no appointments are needed. The Centre is located in the Hans W. Klohn Commons, rooms 133 and 134.

Workshops: BE Math Ready
Are you taking a first-year university math course at UNB Saint John? Would you like to strengthen your math skills?
The Flora Beckett Math & Science Help Centre is holding three precalculus workshops. The workshops will focus on reviewing and practising the skills needed for first year math. All are welcome. Workshops are free to attend.
Arithmetic & Elementary Algebra: Sept 10, 6 – 8 p.m., GH-115
Functions & their Graphs, Logs & Exponentials: Sept 11, 6 – 8 p.m., GH-115
Geometry & Trigonometry: Sept 12, 6 – 8 p.m., GH-115
The Math & Science Help Centre is currently looking for qualified students tutors in math, stats, and general intro science.
Student tutors will work as part of the Math & Science Help Centre (MSHC) team under the supervision of the MSHC coordinator. Tutors will provide tutoring assistance to first year undergraduate science students in one-on-one and/or group settings, as well as assist with exam review sessions and short workshops. To qualify, candidates should have excellent grades in their key area of study within science. Ideal candidates will match strong academic performance with an interest in education. Strong communication skills are a definite asset.
