We're passionate about education and the critical role it plays in transforming society. The Faculty of Education at UNB Fredericton is a place of learning, a place to think about teaching and a place to learn about educational issues affecting our society today.  

Our faculty provides a rich academic and professional environment in which you can learn. We've helped shape education curriculums and programs in New Brunswick, in Canada and even helped with educational programs around the world. 



A widely recognized BEd degree

The Bachelor of Education (BEd) program at UNB Fredericton provides you with the experience, training and knowledge required to be a great teacher. A UNB BEd degree is a recognized credential by the New Brunswick Government and other provinces.

The New Brunswick Teacher's License is widely-recognized throughout public schools across North America and beyond—into the many teaching-related career opportunities that fall outside of the public education system. Many of our faculty members have specialized backgrounds. Since 1975, the Faculty has contracted with a number of agencies for the delivery of international projects in Kenya, Bhutan and Trinidad.

Every day more teaching opportunities open up around the world as the link between education and economic prosperity and the importance of lifelong learning become known. With this degree, you will be very comfortable in front of a group, able to work collaboratively with others on team projects, and understand how learning occurs so that you are best able to meet the diverse learning needs of your students.

Graduate Studies

Graduate Studies in Education at UNB is a place where students advance their careers both academically and professionally. Our programs are flexible and suit the needs of working professionals and academics; courses can be taken full or part-time, online, and from a distance. Students enjoy our intimate class settings that promote a very collegial and collaborative environment; a place where students share camaraderie in learning.

In the community

There are several externally-funded research and development centres housed in the Faculty, including: The Early Childhood Education Centre, The Mi'kmaq-Maliseet Institute, the Second Language Research Institute of Canada, the Health & Education Research Group (HERG), and The Canadian Research Institute for Social Policy.
