Faculty of Education Admission Advantage (FEAA)

Conditional early acceptance into the B.Ed. program

Exceptional high school and first-year UNB Fredericton students may receive a conditional offer of early acceptance into the B.Ed. program.

Application criteria

Senior-year high school students:

  • minimum admission average of 80%
  • admissible to an undergraduate degree program at UNB Fredericton

First-year UNB Fredericton students:

  • minimum of 30ch in the first year of study
  • 3.3 GPA

Application process

Senior-year high school students must:

  • apply to an undergraduate program at UNB - Fredericton campus (UNBF) and indicate interest in FEAA within the UNB online application or by contacting the UNB Admissions Office 
  • submit the initial components of the FEAA application by June 30th, prior to the start of their UNBF program*:
    • profile and personal interest form
    • written statement about their education-related experience
    • a character reference
    • an education reference

First-year UNB Fredericton students must:

  • submit the initial components of the FEAA application by June 30th, between their first and second year of undergraduate study:
    • profile and personal interest form
    • written statement about their education-related experience
    • a character reference
    • an education reference

Progress criteria

Students who are awarded a Faculty of Education Admission Advantage (FEAA) need to meet the following progress criteria, including teachable admission requirements.

FEAA students must:

  • complete their first degree program at UNBF within five years
  • achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in that degree
  • submit the final components of the FEAA application package to the Admissions Office during the fall term of their final year of undergraduate study (the application deadline is December 15th):
    • written statements about their post-secondary education and their goals in the B.Ed. program
    • an academic reference
    • (optional) a revised written statement about their education-related experience 
  • continue their involvement in education-related experiences during their undergraduate degree (volunteer or paid)
  • complete an interview in the winter term of their final year of undergraduate study

*All FEAA application documents are available through the UNB Admissions Office - Fredericton campus.
