Funding your exchange

londonStudent fees: While on exchange you will pay your tuition and fees to UNB. Please note some institutions may require exchange students to pay limited additional fees for services (eg. ID cards, registration fee, etc.). This will vary for each partner institution. Students should contact the host institution regarding any additional fees.

Living costs: Students are responsible for organizing and paying for accommodation. It is a good idea to design a budget for living and school expenses such as food, textbooks and transportation, and for general spending money for sight-seeing, entertainment and souvenirs.

Passport/study permit: You need to apply for a passport and in some cases pay an application fee for a study permit/residence permit in the country you will be visiting. In some cases, students are required to travel to the host country's Embassy/Consulate in Toronto, Montreal or Ottawa, thus undertaking flight, transportation and possibly a hotel for overnight stay. 

Travel costs: Students are responsible for all travel costs. You should be accepted to your host institution before making travel plans, but researching airfares will give you an idea of what to expect. There are travel agencies that specialize in student travel and can usually provide competitive prices. 

Insurance: All UNB students traveling under the Student Abroad Program must show proof of sufficient minimum travel insurance coverage before they leave. The requirements are listed on the pre-departure forms which must be submitted to the Student Abroad Program. Please take this cost into consideration in your budget.
