Begin your string-instrument experience in an environment rich with games, positive instruction, and new friends! Tailored towards students just beginning to learn a stringed instrument (ages 4 to 10). This course takes place on Wednesdays from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m., Sept. 11 to Dec. 4, 2019.

In this course, you'll work through the Essential Elements for Strings series, which builds strong foundations in reading, listening, and posture. Throughout the class, you'll have lots of opportunities to be creative! You'll tell stories with music, make your own songs for the class to play, and you will play lots of musical games!  

Mark Kleyn is Michigan native who combines his viola performance pursuits with research into performance psychology to create a multifaceted and unique career. Mark Kleyn received his BFA in Viola Performance from Western Michigan University, and his M.M. in Viola Performance from the University of Ottawa. Mark has also earned an M.A. in Musicology from the University of Ottawa, focusing his research on the application of sport psychology to performing artists. Mark’s research into performance psychology has taken him to conferences across Canada and has allowed Mark to host workshops for performers in New Brunswick.
