Positive mental health team

Duration: September to April 

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic people who are passionate about positive mental health and its promotion among the student community here at UNB. This position will involve:

  • Helping with our weekly and/or monthly events
  • Assisting with our media channels  
  • Contributing to our positive mental health promotion strategy
  • Attending brief bi-weekly meetings

Time requirement

  • Flexible and approximately 2 to 3 hours every 2 weeks

About the role

As PMHT Coordinator, you’ll help create a campus where students feel connected, supported, and well. You’ll:

  • Lead a team of student volunteers
  • Run mental health and social wellness programs
  • Collaborate with Counselling Services and other campus partners

What you’ll do

  • Lead a volunteer team
    • Recruit and support students who want to make a difference
    • Offer mentorship and ensure volunteers feel prepared and valued
  • Plan and run wellbeing programs
    • Organize events, workshops, and campaigns on topics like stress, mindfulness, belonging, and mental health
  • Reach out across campus
    • Spread awareness of wellbeing resources
    • Ensure all students, especially those who might not seek support, feel welcome
  • Grow your own skills
    • Take part in training on health promotion and outreach
    • Develop leadership and organizational skills
  • Track what’s working
    • Collect feedback and data to improve programs and demonstrate impact

Note: You will be coached and trained gradually, working alongside UNB staff to build your skills.

Qualifications

  • Full-time undergraduate or graduate student at UNB Fredericton
  • Highly organized and structured
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Compassionate and committed to student wellbeing
  • Interest or background in mental health, psychology, education, or community development
  • Experience in health promotion, student leadership, event facilitation, or outreach is an asset

Job details

  • Part-time: 10 hours/week
  • Flexible schedule: Mainly M–F (8:15 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) with occasional evenings/weekends
  • Pay: $18/hour
