The New Brunswick Law Foundation announced a campaign leadership gift totaling $3.25 million. This historic contribution provides the UNB Legal Clinic with $2.5 million, the Law Foundation’s largest single commitment to date.
A further $750,000 will enhance the existing Law Foundation law trust to support the law faculty’s moot court program and other student experiential opportunities. The Law Foundation is also creating a new scholarship fund for New Brunswick Indigenous students valued at $30,000 annually.
Stewart McKelvey, Atlantic Canada’s largest law firm, announced on May 1, the 35th anniversary of the firm, a substantial donation of $1.5 million to the University of New Brunswick Law School — $1 million from Stewart McKelvey, supported by an additional $500,000 from the firm’s partners and associates.
This contribution will fund the new Legal Observatory at UNB Law, demonstrating the firm’s commitment to helping UNB achieve their goal of becoming Canada’s most innovative experiential learning law school, and to the growth and development of the legal profession and the practise of law in Atlantic Canada.

“Stewart McKelvey is proud of its roots in Atlantic Canada. This contribution — and more importantly, this partnership — reflects our firm’s belief in the transformative power of experiential learning in legal education. A law school that is strongly connected to the legal community creates lasting benefits for students, practitioners and society as a whole."

The UNB Faculty of Law is proud to announce a $1,000,000 gift from Earl Brewer (LLB), a graduate of the Class of 1974. This is the largest donation ever made to UNB Law by one of its graduates.
Earl’s historic gift will establish the Brewer Scholarship, which aims to foster academic excellence in the Faculty of Law. This renewable award is valued at $27,500, making it the largest at UNB Law other than the Beaverbrook Scholarship. It will support three UNB Law students per year, recognizing their outstanding academic achievement and leadership potential. A portion of Earl’s gift will also help optimize the learning spaces in UNB Law’s new home, the downtown Justice Building.

“My time at UNB Law was crucial in my career success. I believe the study of law enables us to become problem solvers and make a real difference in our society through good works and public service. It is an honour, and indeed a duty, to give back.”
— Earl Brewer (LLB'74)
The UNB Faculty of Law is thrilled to announce a $1,000,000 gift from Wayne Carson (LLB), a graduate of the Class of 1990.
Wayne’s transformative gift will help shape UNB Law’s future. It will support the growth of the law school, creating new programs that will help us attract and retain the best students, and position UNB Law as one of the top law schools in Canada.

“I am incredibly proud to give back to UNB, an institution that means so much to me and has profoundly shaped my success. The Faculty of Law has an incredible vision for the next decade — meticulously crafted and inspiring. I am honoured to play a role in its realization.”
— Wayne Carson (LLB'90)
