LLB to JD reclassification

In 2012, the University of New Brunswick approved the reclassification of the LLB degree program and degree name to Juris Doctor (JD).

Interested alumni of can apply through the Registrar’s Office for a replacement JD diploma and transcript. 

If you are interested in obtaining a replacement JD diploma, please submit a completed request form to the Registrar’s Office and include your original LLB diploma or a Statutory Declaration if you are unable to return your original diploma. 

A JD diploma will be issued by the Registrar’s Office and sent to alumni (or recipients may opt to pick up) once all the required documentation is received. 

The degree replacement fee of $50 CDN is required. Payment Services are available until 3:30 p.m. daily at the Registrar's Office. Payment Services accepts debit and credit card transactions only. Visa debit, cash and cheque are not accepted.

Once your degree has been reclassified, it cannot be reversed to the LLB designation. In addition, your official transcript will be amended to include a notation indicating that the LLB degree was reclassified as a JD and will indicate the date of reclassification.

Please note that the LLB parchment will be replaced with the JD degree parchment using the parchment design and signatories in place at the time of replacement.
