Patients' Den

The Patients’ Den is an innovative event styled in the spirit of the popular television series Shark Tank and Dragons’ Den. In the two series, entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas in an interactive and public forum to secure financial support from a panel of venture capitalists.

At the Patients’ Den event, a group of patient advisors acts as venture capitalists, evaluating research proposals and granting awards during a public evening session. Proposals undergo screening for basic eligibility, scientific merit, and feasibility by a panel comprising methodology experts and patient advisors.

QUEST

QUEST is a group that meets virtually to discuss topics in qualitative health research, such as methodological approaches to, qualitative research and other emerging qualitative research topics.

The forum aims to share expertise across disciplines, sectors, and qualitative traditions. QUEST's scope has broadened to include participation across Canada, building research capacity across the country. Renowned qualitative researchers Dr. Sally Thorne and Dr. Victoria Clarke are among the recent presenters. Anyone interested in qualitative health research is welcome to attend.

QUEST actively supports the scholastic and professional growth of undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and early career researchers. QUEST also promotes networking and interdisciplinary work. All sessions are recorded and made available for free.

Canadian Healthcare Navigation Conference

Navigation services have been established in almost every province and territory across Canada to assist individuals and their caregivers/care partners in navigating through health, education, and social systems. We understand the relevance and importance of navigation services and aim to create an opportunity to bring stakeholders together in an interdisciplinary environment for exchanging information and networking.

In April 2021, we organized the first annual Canadian Healthcare Navigation Conference (CHNC). CHNC serves as a forum for sharing and discussing how navigation can facilitate the integration of care through the perspectives of research, practice, education, and administration.

This conference is a collaboration between the Centre for Research in Integrated Care at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John and the Family Navigation Project at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto.
