Credit Courses

The Centre for Musical Arts (CMA) offers a Music Minor and a variety of credit offerings to enhance the musical knowledge of students at UNB. Courses include traditional topics such as Music Theory and Music History, as well as more specialized classes like Music, Computers & Technology, Music & Cinema, and Conducting.

We also offer Concert Band and Chorale for credit and non-credit.


UNB Concert Band

Under the direction of Hugh Kennedy, the UNB Concert Band meets on Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. in the auditorium of Memorial Hall.

The band welcomes all students, staff, and members of the community at large. It plays at fall convocation, end of term concerts, and in collaboration with the local community band. Some instruments are available for loan.

The UNB Chorale

The UNB Chorale rehearses in Room 23 of Memorial Hall on Mondays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The choir welcomes advanced and novice choral singers from students, faculty, staff, and the general public. The choir participates in concerts on campus, as well as other events in the community.

Fredericton Symphony Orchestra

The Fredericton Symphony players under the baton of Richard Hornsby is a community orchestra, which welcomes students. It performs various concerts throughout the year. Rehearsals take place on Saturdays from 2 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. in room 23 of Memorial Hall.
