Entry Visa/Temporary Resident Visa
A Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) is an official document issued by a Canadian visa office that is placed in your passport to show that you have met the requirements for admission to Canada as a temporary resident (either as a visitor, a student, or a worker).
You must apply for an entry visa before coming to Canada. You cannot apply for this upon arrival in Canada.
You cannot apply for the entry visa online - it has to be done via mail. You must have a valid Study Permit (or Post-Graduate Work Permit) to apply for the Entry Visa. The Entry Visa is only given up to the expiry of the passport or the study permit.
Please make sure to apply at least two months before you will be leaving Canada.
To find out if you are from a country that requires an entry visa to enter Canada, please see the list of countries whose citizens need a visa.
