At the University of New Brunswick in Saint John we have amazing athletic facilities. The gym can host three basketball games or volleyball matches simultaneously. It is also home to the largest indoor soccer league in Saint John. For a complete listing of available time slots, see the weekly schedule.
Our stadium is one of the best in Atlantic Canada featuring brand new artificial turf, lights, new track and renovated grandstand. UNB Saint John is the place to be if you are a soccer or football player, or if you compete seriously in track & field.
If you are a full-time student and played high school sports, why not try out for one of our varsity teams? Choose from soccer, basketball, volleyball (CCAA/ACAA) and cross country / track & field (CIS/AUS). Varsity is the highest level of sport at the University of New Brunswick Saint John. If you excel in your sport, come play for us!
Spectators are important too. If you don't play, come and cheer on those who do.
Club Sports are a great way to stay active and to meet your fellow students forming life long friendships. We have several club sports to choose from. *NEW* for fall of 2012 is Women's Rugby (contact) and Badminton Club (contact). Other established clubs are Men's Football and Women's Hockey. Even if you are not a full-time student, you can always play something - and usually the time commitment is less than varsity.
If you want to play intramurals with your friends, there are a number of events taking place all the time such as: flag football, soccer, badminton, ball hockey, volleyball and basketball. Because of the schdules these usually run as special one day events. We'd love to have you participate.
Fitness & strength training
Maybe playing sports isn't your thing but you love to workout. We have two fitness areas as well as a table tennis room available to all current UNB Saint John students. Upstairs you'll find cardio equipment and machine strength training. Downstairs is reserved for plate-loaded workouts of a heavier nature. One of these areas will be perfect for you. Take advantage of them.
If you prefer to work out with others we offer group fitness classes at least three times per week, usually at noon. The classes offered include step, flex, strength training, zumba, yoga, boot camp and others based on instructor availability and interest.
