  • Windows 7 or 10 and Office 2013
    • Upgrade to Office 2016 (including Skype for Business) through the UNB Software Center (Instructions)
  • Windows 7 or 10 and Office 2016
    • You already have Skype for Business! Search your programs for Skype for Business, log in with your 'UNB Login ID'@unb.ca and UNB Password, and let the collaboration begin.
  • Mac and Office 2011
  • Mac and no MS Office - You have two options:
    • Recommended – Download and install Office 2011 including Lync (contact your Departmental Level 1 or the IT Service Desk to do this);
      or
    • Download the Lync 2011 client only (Instructions).
  • Other – Please contact your Departmental Level 1 or the IT Service Desk.

Personal Computers (Faculty/Staff/Retirees)

If you have a UNB-owned computer, please follow the instructions above.

  1. Download MS Office for Free to get Skype for Business. Already have Skype for Business on your computer? Skip to step 2.
  2. Search your programs for Skype for Business, log in with your 'UNB Login ID'@unb.ca and UNB Password, and let the collaboration begin.

Mobile Devices

Available for Android, Apple and Windows devices.

  1. Go to the App Store on your device.
  2. Search for Skype for Business and select Download.
  3. Open the Skype for Business app and enter your ‘UNB login ID’@unb.ca and UNB Password. NOTE: It may take a few tries before you are successfully logged in.
  4. You may be asked to provide a phone number. NOTE: You may be charged long distance to this number. If you want to ensure no long distance charges will apply, enter +1-000-000-0000.
