Not a day goes by where Melanie is not grateful for the opportunity that she had to explore community building, problem solving and leadership at Renaissance College. The interdisciplinary approach to learning, and emphasis on global citizenship provided an excellent foundation for a career in medicine. The problem based learning approach at RC was a great stepping stone to the McMaster medical school curriculum. Throughout medical school Melanie worked with a number of community and school based organizations exploring the impact of health on the more vulnerable sectors of our population, including refugees and aboriginal peoples.
Melanie is currently attending the University of Toronto in their Family Medicine residency program and is involved in both medical education and global health training. She is planning to continue her work with vulnerable populations in residency by work in both inner city Toronto and rural Ontario.
