Teaching

Supporting learners to achieve praxis and become autonomous critical thinkers. and embracing innovation to cultivate wicked students, responsive to the needs of an increasingly complex world are central components of my teaching philosophy.

I started teaching undergraduate nursing in 2014, initially as a term Instructor at UNB’s Saint John campus. In July 2017, I began a continuing appointment position at UNB’s Moncton site. In 2020, I was awarded early tenure as an outcome of probationary review, and in 2022, I received promotion to Teaching Professor, which is my current position.

I have taught various undergraduate courses, including Preceptorship, Acute Health Challenges, Nursing in Complex Situations, Community and Population Health, and Issues in the Canadian Healthcare System.

Areas of interest

As a teaching professor, my primary interest is teaching and learning innovation. Current projects related to this include:

  • Immersive virtual reality
  • Simulation pedagogy
  • Clinical delivery models

I am a PhD student in Nursing at Queen’s University. In this capacity, my research focuses on metabolic health, specifically, low carbohydrate and intermittent fasting dietary interventions for people with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
