Cathy Kean holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of New Brunswick and a Master of Science in Income Taxation from Golden Gate University, in San Francisco. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1989 and as a Certified Public Accountant (USA) in 2000. Her education also includes parts 1 and 2 of the CICA's In-depth Tax Program.

Cathy's work experience includes 10 years in public accounting almost exclusively at "Big 4" accounting firms in Canada and the US. She has been with the Canada Revenue Agency in the International and Large Business Directorate since 2005. Cathy is also an online Facilitator for CPA Atlantic.

In addition to her professional achievements, Cathy has contributed her expertise at the community level to: the Kingston Soccer Club, Touchstone Community School, the Canadian Women's Association in Lima, Peru; Junior Achievement; and the Bathurst Chamber of Commerce.

Cathy has served on the board of directors of: the Kingston Farmers Market, the Greater Saint John Community Foundation; and the St Vincent's Alumnae Association.
