Mitacs Programs

Mitacs Accelerate supports collaborative research between universities and non-academic partners, including industry and eligible not-for-profit organizations. The program is open to Canadian and international students at all levels and postdoctoral fellows in all academic disciplines. Value: $15,000 per 6-month unit.

Mitacs Accelerate Entrepreneur funds student entrepreneurs to further develop the research or technology at the core of their business when hosted by an incubator facility. Mitacs funding helps student entrepreneurs to take real, meaningful advantage of the supports provided by the incubator, with the goal of commercializing the technology, product, or service rapidly.  The student entrepreneur spends the internship undertaking research that both furthers the company and their graduate work, while drawing a salary. Value: $15,000 per 6-month unit.

Mitacs Elevate is a postdoctoral fellowship with a customized research management training program, along with a two-year research project with a non-academic organization. The program is open to Canadian and international postdoctoral fellows in all academic disciplines. Value: $60,000/year for 2 years.

The Mitacs Globalink Research Award provides travel funding for students and postdoctoral fellows in all academic disciplines. This award aids travel and research collaborations of 12-24 weeks at a university abroad. UNB Globalink Research Award supervisors are asked to contribute $2,000 towards the value of the award. Value: $6,000.
