Homecoming and Oktoberfest 2019

Celebrating our UNB family

From Sept. 26-29, close to 500 alumni and friends returned to our Fredericton campus to celebrate Homecoming. It was a joy to be able to speak with so many of our alumni and supporters about the important role our university has played in their lives. Many of them told me how transformative their time here was. That rang true to me, as I reflected on my own UNB experience.

Homecoming is a special time when our entire community can come together to celebrate UNB. As usual, our alumni team did an incredible job of preparing a diverse and exciting list of activities over the course of four days, including a research showcase, campus tours, the lobster boil, senior classes dinner and, of course, the Homecoming football game.

Our Alumni Office also hosted an Oktoberfest celebration, on Friday, Oct. 11, at the Market Square Atrium in Saint John. It was a terrific event with close to 200 people in attendance, all enjoying the food, music and local microbrews.

None of this would be possible without the work, enthusiasm and dedication of the Associated Alumni Office. On behalf of the entire university community, I would like to sincerely thank Margaret Grant-McGivney and her team for making sure that the UNB experience does not end at graduation. We all have a reason to be Proudly UNB.
